T-GRAPH FOR SOCIAL SKILLS.
HEADS TOGETHER, TEAMS!
"If it's not on the chart, you can't EARN POINTS for it."
Key PointsTop of Page
- Students identify good behavior
- Students verbalize and internalize appropriate behavior
- More meaningful to the students than teacher imposed rules
- Sets standards for cooperative groups and develops social skills
- All statements are in positive terms
Step-by-StepTop of Page
- Focus on a different social skill for each unit (cooperation, respect, trustworthiness...)
- Brainstorm the meaning of the word with your students and record it on a web
- Brainstorm what behaviors you would SEE, or someone else would see, if a group member was demonstrating this character trait.
- Brainstorm what specific words you would HEAR if someone was demonstrating this character trait.
- Revisit the T-graph regularly to add to the list of behaviors, and refer to these specific behaviors when awarding group points.
